Workshop at Queen Mary University of London
New Date : 4-8 July 2022
Description
This event aims to bring together prominent international experts and UK researchers working in the field of geometric analysis with an emphasis on mean curvature flow. Mean curvature flow was introduced by Mullins as a model for the formation of grain boundaries in annealing metals. It also appears as the flow to equilibrium of soap films, the motion of embedded branes in approximations of the renormalisation group flow in theoretical physics, boundaries of Ginzburg-Landau equations of simplified superconductivity and as a method of denoising in image processing. This conference comes at a crucial time in the development of the subject. Recently there has been a number of major breakthroughs in this area such as the classification of ancient solutions of mean curvature flow, the proofs of the mean convex neighbourhood conjecture and the bounded mean curvature conjecture, and significant progress in high codimension mean curvature flow. This conference aims to capitalise on these new results by bringing together leading researchers to foster an atmosphere of collaboration, mutual research knowledge exchange, as well as develop and reinforce research networks.
Schedule
A total of twenty one-hour talks are planned. Wednesday and Friday afternoon will be free. There will be a wine reception on Monday evening and a conference dinner on Thursday evening for all registered participants.

Registration & Application for Funding
All participants (except for speakers) will need to register.
There is limited funding for travel, accommodation, and subsistence of early career participants (with priority given to PhD students and postdocs having recently finished their PhD). Please email this link, with a CV and a name and address of a referee. We will assess funding shortly after receiving applications until June 24th.
This conference is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the London Mathematical Society (LMS) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL).
